One Republic “Native” Review

One Republic “Native” Review

One Republic has authored several tremendous singles but, in our view, no great albums as a unit, with every track on the album being at least good. They have hits, great hits: Apologize, Secrets, Stop and Stare: awesome songs!

The latest release “Native” is like any other new release, it sometimes takes time to get into it. But the first impression is always important. This album is a bit like Battleborn by The Killers, amazing production but no soul. So OK, Native may have one or two radio hits, but overall, the album does not seem the have staying power. Some of the lyrics are off (Because you wanted it), and one can sense the pressure on a band that has reached that level of expectation (as for The Killers).

Final grade? 7/10. Not bad at all. Not great either… But we are dealing with top notch artists, so the bar is high for a 9 or 10…
